If you ordered your seed potatoes they are now in the Store and ready for collection.
For those members who have not pre-ordered we still have some varieties available.
All are priced the same; for example, 3kg for £3.20 or 1/2kg for 65p.
We also have 3 new varieties to trial:
- "Markies", a maincrop reported as good for frying, good for long storing and resistant to many potato diseases.
- "Setanta", another main crop, reported as good for chips and roasting and blight resistant.
- "Jazzy", an early, very heavy cropper
These will be available in ½kg packets, selling at 65p.
ONIONS AND SHALLOTS
These are in the store and are the same as last year, that is Sturon, Stuttgart and Rumba.
They will be bagged in 250gm and 500gm lots. For 250gm you get between 80 and 100 sets (depending on the variety) and obviously twice that amount for 500gm.
The prices are: 250gm cost 60p and 500gm will cost £1.10. If you check out the price at garden centres (£4 for 75 sets!) I think you will find that this is very good value.
The red onions, Red Baron, will be in the store in about mid-March. (Planted too early and they tend to bolt). These will cost £1.30 for 500gm.
Shallots Golden Gourmet and Red Sun are also in the store. These are priced at £1.25 for 500gm.
For those members who pre-ordered seeds, they are ready for collection from the store. There has been a 50% discount for D T Brown seeds.
If you didn't order to take advantage of this very attractive discount, be ready to pick up a catalogue in the autumn this year.
Garlic bulbs are in and a few are still available. The varieties are Provence Wight, Early Purple Wight and Solent Wight.
